Wyoming County woman held pharmacy employee hostage, police say

By Staff reports

PINEVILLE, W.Va. -- A woman walked into a Wyoming County pharmacy and held an employee hostage at gunpoint on Wednesday, State Police said.

Troopers with the Jesse detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to a 911 call about a woman demanding pain pills inside Charlie's Pharmacy on Main Street in Pineville.

Vickie Acord, 40, of Jesse, allegedly held an employee hostage for two hours before safely releasing the employee, State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous said in a news release.

Acord then surrendered to troopers through an exit behind the pharmacy.

She was arrested and charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of armed robbery. Acord is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment in Wyoming County Magistrate Court.
