Party in the park
The Historic Fayette Theater will celebrate its 20th anniversary at 8 p.m. Saturday at the historic theater. There will be special music and the theme is "Party in the Park." Contentment" open to visitors
The Contentment Complex on U.S. 60, Main Street, in Ansted is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, now through August. "Contentment" was once the home of Confederate Col. George Imboden and now the headquarters of the Fayette County Historical Society. It is one of three Civil War Trail sites in Ansted. The other two are The Tyree Tavern, once a stagecoach stop and now privately owned; and West Lake Cemetery, burial site of Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson's mother, Julia Jackson Woodson. There are three buildings open for tours in the complex, "Contentment" home, a heritage museum with Civil War artifacts, mining and farming implements, etc, and a rebuilt one-room schoolhouse. Admission, which covers all buildings, is $6 for adults and $3 for those under age 12.
