BLUES AND JAZZ FESTIVAL: The 12th annual Johnnie Johnson Blues And Jazz Festival runs Friday through Sunday at Palatine Park in Fairmont. Performers include Roddy Barnes, Paul Geremia, Bill Stalnaker and Night Moves and Big Bill Morganfield. The festival is named for the Fairmont native who is considered by many to be the "founding father of rock 'n' roll." He is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. Tickets are $10. Children under 12 are admitted free with a paying adult. WINDFEST KITE WEEKEND: Canaan Valley Resort State Park in Davis. Hosted by Canaan Valley Resort State Park and Wings over Washington Kite Fest host the event. At 11 a.m., the group will teach kite building/design workshops for a small fee.
