Man enters Kennedy plea in fatal Raleigh shooting
BECKLEY, W.Va. -- A Fairdale man faces up to 15 years in prison after entering a Kennedy plea to voluntary manslaughter in a fatal shooting.
Forty-one-year-old Charles William Young is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 27.
The Register-Herald reports that Young entered his plea Wednesday in Raleigh County Circuit Court. Under the Kennedy rule, a defendant doesn't admit guilt.
Young was accused of killing 66-year-old Frank Acord of Fairdale. Acord's body was found March 3, 2012, near an abandoned coal mine. Raleigh County prosecutor Kristin Keller says Acord was shot three times in the head and once in the arm.
