State officials to mark latest Corridor H work
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia officials are marking construction of a new segment of Corridor H.
A ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled Monday in Davis.
Work is underway on the 20-mile segment. When completed, it will connect Davis in Tucker County to existing highway near Scherr in Grant County. It's scheduled to be completed late this year or in early 2014.
Corridor H Authority spokesman Curtis Wilkerson says that the project will increase access in the region for commerce.
He says existing sections of Corridor H have improved economic conditions in nearby communities such as Buckhannon and Moorefield.
Eventually, the four-lane highway will link Interstate 79 near Weston with Interstate 81 in Virginia.
