CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- The public will finally get a look inside the new Highland-Clarksburg Hospital.
A free open house is set for noon to 4 p.m. Friday.
Renovations of the former United Hospital Center began in January.
Highland Hospital won state approval last year to convert the hospital into a privately operated, 150-bed behavioral health facility that will employ 294 people. It will treat people with both mental health and substance abuse issues.
Chief Operating Officer Eric Kennedy said Wednesday operation of a 35-bed unit for children between 5 and 17 years old will start Monday.
Construction director Mike Casdorph said the work on that unit is ahead of schedule and in the final cleanup stage.Renovations continue, though, and the remaining 115 beds are on track to open in early 2014.
