Charleston police are searching for a man who allegedly shot a female bystander during an argument on the West Side of Charleston on Saturday.
Chief of Detectives Steve Cooper said that an arrest warrant has been issued for Jamar Adams, 25, of Charleston. Cooper said they consider him to be armed and dangerous.
Adams was arguing with Donovan "Don Don" Hardison, 23, on the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue on Saturday afternoon, Cooper said.
Adams then fired a gun and hit Jodeci Bateman, 21, of Charleston, in the arm. Bateman who was in a car with a 4-month-old baby, was a bystander and was not involved in the dispute, Cooper said.
Bateman was taken to CAMC General with non-life threatening injuries, Cooper said.
Adams is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of malicious wounding. He also has a criminal history.
"He's well known to the Charleston Police," Cooper said.
Hardison, who was arrested in 2012 for felony drug possession, is not charged with a crime.Anyone with information about Adams is asked to call the Charleston Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 304-348-6480.
