The Hurricane Civic Chorus, under the direction of Marshall University voice professor Larry Stickler and accompanied by Tom Minshall, will begin fall practice Aug. 27 at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. No auditions are necessary. There is a $30 fee for the semester.
Antiques show and sale
The Pilot Club of Huntington will have its 61st annual Antiques Show and Sale Friday through Sunday at the Big Sandy Conference Center in Huntington. More than 30 antique dealers from several states will showcase their items. Call 304-736-3513 or 304-697-1576 for information.
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. will sing the national anthem and local celebrities will play ball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Appalachian Power Park to benefit Charleston Montessori School scholarships and school programs. Sen. Chris Walters, Delegate Doug Skaff, Prosecuting Attorney Mark Plants, former WVU basketball player and CMS instructor Brian Lewin and Elizabeth Noreika of WCHS-TV will play ball. The family event includes fireworks, sponsored by Preston and Salango PLLC. Tickets are $5 and are available from Charleston Montessori School, at 304-340-9000.
