Book discussion group
The Kanawha County Public Library will host a new monthly reading and discussion group, the Man Booker Prize Non-Winners Reading and Discussion Group, from 3 to 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, from September through June 2014 in the John V. Ray Room, Main Library, 123 Capitol St. The book discussion group will focus on those titles that didn't win a Man Booker Prize Award but are worthy in their own right. The Man Booker Prize is awarded to the best fiction novel of the year written by a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland. Participants are asked to buy the books. Limited copies are available in the library collection. The first discussion, on "Flaubert's Parrot" by Julian Barnes, will take place Sept. 5. To register and for information, call 304-343-4646, ext. 287.
