CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Enrollment of first-time freshmen at West Virginia State University has increased considerably since fall 2012.
Today, 432 students are enrolled at WVSU, as compared to 291 during the 2012 fall semester.
Katherine McCarthy, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at the school, pointed to better outreach programs as one possible reason for the enrollment surge."We have done a lot more outreach to let prospective students and their families know about the opportunities available at West Virginia State University. We have also hosted a number of events designed to bring students to campus, and we have made great strides in getting financial aid packages out in a timely manner," McCarthy said in a prepared statement.
