Three people were killed in a single-car accident in Fayette County Saturday night, The Fayette County Sheriff said.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling east on Route 612 near Mossy when it veered off the edge of the road, began sliding and then overturned and began rolling, Sheriff Steve Kessler said in a statement.
All three people in the truck were ejected from the vehicle. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, one person was pinned underneath the truck and two others were lying on the roadway.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims are Robert Dean Manning, 54, of Scarbro, Edward "Eddy" Miller, age unknown, of Scarbro, and a 52-year-old woman whose name is not being released, until her family can be notified.
Investigators have not been able to determine who was driving, but the truck was registered to Manning. Both alcohol and excessive speed were likely factors in the accident, Kessler said.
Route 612 was closed for nearly three hours Saturday night and early Sunday morning as units from the Oak Hill Fire Department, Jan Care, General Ambulance Services and the Sheriff's Office responded.
The accident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Fayette County sheriff's Office at 304-574-4216.
