The AARP Foundation is holding an information session to help unemployed people ages 50 and older get back to work. The event will take place at the South Charleston Community Center at 601 Jefferson Rd. on Sept. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. Attendees will learn about effective job searching methods for older people, explore updated resume and interviewing strategies and meet with community organizers that can provide job resources and training. Cross Lanes YMCA will have Tumbling Class for 4-10 years olds from 6:15 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning Sept. 12 and continuing through Oct. 24. The cost is $35 for members and $55 for nonmembers.
Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 6:45 p.m. for the board and at 7 p.m. for the general meeting on Thursday at the South Charleston Municipal Court Building. President Sandra Jo Medley will conduct the business meeting. All officers and committee members are to attend.

Concealed weapons class
West Virginia State University's Lifelong Learning through Continuing Education program is offering a concealed weapons class. The lecture portion of the class will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 in 125 Wallace Hall. The tactical portion of the class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Putnam County Gun Club.
