DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Dunbar City Council members on Tuesday gave Mayor Terry Greenlee the go-ahead to negotiate with the Dunbar Athletic Boosters about the cost of the lease for the city's bingo building on Charles Avenue.
The lease is up on the building, Councilman Everette Sullivan said.
Also during Tuesday's council meeting:
• Council members approved the purchase of five bulletproof vests from West Virginia Uniforms, which cost $2,875. About half that cost will be paid for by a grant, while the city will pay the other half of the cost, Sullivan said.
• The city agreed to give $3,325.42 to the beautifications committee, which is the city's annual contribution.
• Council members learned that a memorial ceremony will be held outside City Hall on Sept. 11 for those who were killed in the al-Qaida terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
