Deputies find marijuana in Campbells Creek backyard
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Campbells Creek man was arrested Monday after deputies allegedly found marijuana growing in his backyard.
Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department went to the Campbells Creek Drive home of Joey Franklin Washington, 42, to investigate a tip alleging Washington was selling drugs. Humphreys said Washington met deputies at his front door and gave them permission to search the house and property.
Humphreys said deputies allegedly found 13 marijuana plants growing in the backyard. He said the plants were about four feet tall, and worth about $26,000 on the street. Washington was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He was free on bond Wednesday.
