City man arrested on bigamy charge
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man could face up to five years in jail for having two wives at the same time.
John Adam Herr, of Teeter Road, was charged with bigamy on Thursday. In October of 2011, he entered into a marriage with a woman while being lawfully married to another woman, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Herr married Kasey Ratliff in Monongalia County on Oct. 19, 2011 while still legally married to Ashley Westerman-Herr, the complaint said. The marriage with Westerman-Herr ended on Nov. 9, 2011.
Herr was arrested Thursday, with bail set at $10,000.
