Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7015 Kanawha St. in St. Albans, will celebrate its 90th Church Anniversary Sept. 15 at the church. Speaker at the 11 a.m. service will be Elder Ron Willis of All Nations Revival Center. Guests for the 3 p.m. service will be the Rev. Reginald Hill, choir and congregation of Antioch Baptist Church.
Homecoming services will be held Sunday at Kelly's Creek Community Church on Kelly's Creek Road, Sissonville. The Rev. Ray Humphrey will preach and The Believers will sing during the morning service beginning at 10 a.m. The Harbor Masters Quartet will sing in the afternoon service beginning at approximately 1 p.m.
Fairview United Methodist Church, Cross Lanes, will have their homecoming weekend today and Sunday. Music will begin at 6 p.m. today featuring the Dulcimers. Hot dogs will be featured. Services continue Sunday with a covered dish dinner.
The 93rd Church Anniversary celebration of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 11744 MacCorkle Avenue, Chesapeake, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the church. The theme is "Striving for Excellence Thru Diligence, Discipleship, and Discipline," Colossians 3:16, 17; 23-25. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Michael Poke from St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans, along with his choir and congregation. Dinner will be served immediately after the morning service. Pastor is Vincent W. Coleman.
Goshen Baptist Church will have homecoming services from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church in Kenna. Sam Bays will preach and singing will be provided by The Gibbons Family from Akron, Ohio; and Heavens Call Trio from Goshen Baptist. Lunch will also be held on the church grounds.
Red Oak Christian Church, Red Oak Drive, Nitro, will have its homecoming services on Sunday. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with dinner at noon. Speaker will be Sundra Brown. The Gospel Tide and Old Cross Roads will sing. Pastor is Victor Keathley.
Lucy Wilson Baptist Church will have its homecoming service beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. at the church, located on Wills Creek in Elkview. The morning worship service begins at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Cunningham preaching and Aggie Strickland singing. Dinner will follow the service.
Shrewsbury Community Church will have its homecoming services Sunday, beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. The Rev. Jimmie McKnight will speak at 11:15 a.m. and there will be special singing. Lunch will follow at noon in the church activities building.
First Missionary Baptist Church of Boomer will celebrate its 107th Anniversary and Homecoming today and Sunday. A church picnic will be held noon to 5 p.m. today at the church. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, followed by the morning service at 11 a.m. with the pastor, the Rev. Robert Frazier, speaking. Guest speaker for the afternoon service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Poke, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of St. Albans, along with his choir and congregation. Surrounding churches are invited to participate. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
Mount Olivet Baptist Church will have its homecoming on Sunday with special singing by The Perrys and Josie. James Boles will preach. Church pastor is Dennis Preast.
Alta Church of God will have its homecoming service beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon services will follow with special singing by The Glory Road Travelers. Joe Rozell will preach. Pastor is Paul E. Young.
Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church will have homecoming services beginning with a morning worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, located at 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington. There will be no Sunday school. The Rev. Jerry Casteel will preach and Family Circle will sing. Dinner will be served at noon. There will be no evening services. The prayer meeting and youth group meeting will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Cross of Grace Lutheran Church will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 14 at the church, located at 30 Grace Drive in Hurricane. The yard sale will be held in the parking lot and in the warehouse at the church. All proceeds will benefit the global missionaries in Kenya and Community Lutheran Partners (CLIP).
Heritage Baptist Church, Pinch, will host a LERMA Stamp-Out Hunger Yard Sale, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 5 on the hill as you enter Hidden Valley in Pinch. Eleven community churches will be participating in this huge annual sale. There will also be a hotdog and bake sale. Items for sale include furniture, exercise equipment, home décor, glassware, books, tools, antiques, clothes, baby items, household items, books, toys, furniture, movies and more.
Abundant Life Bible College will start its next six-week course, Pentecostal Theology I, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at 1534 Washington St. E. Topics will include Bibliology, Theology, and Anthropology. The cost for this course is $100 in addition to a $25 registration fee. Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Ave., St. Albans, will have a Mission Fund Fundraiser on Sept. 14 at the church. A yard sale will begin at 8 a.m. A dinner and silent auction will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost for adults is $8 and children, $4.
Lighthouse Worship Center family will have a rummage sale beginning 8 a.m. today at the church, corner of Call Road and W.Va. 21, Sissonville, on the hill. A large variety of items and a bake sale will be featured.
St. Luke United Methodist Church on Hansford Street in St. Albans, will be holding a block party from noon to 6:30 p.m. today at the church. There will be a bounce house, the St. Albans Safety House, games, music and snacks and hot dogs, door prizes include a tablet, gift cards to iTunes and Gamestop. The revival will follow.
The BrighterSide Quartet will be singing at 7 p.m. today<co Sept. 7> at Rensford Baptist Church.
Harry Campbell will sing at 7 p.m. Monday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Wills Creek, Elkview.
Destination Heaven will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Rumble Community Baptist Church.
The Clendenin First Baptist Church, located at Virginia Ave. and Jarrett Street, will have its annual Fall Gospel Concert, featuring the Martin Luther King Jr. Male Chorus at 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the church. A love offering will be taken to show appreciation.
Paid in Full will sing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moriah Church, Spencer Road, near Spencer.
A benefit gospel sing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Sissonville High School. Groups scheduled will be The Builders Quartet, Calvary's Why, Sissonville Gospel Singers, Ron Shamblin, The Greenes and Paid in Full. Evangelist is Ron Shamblin, who will also be the host Emcee. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go toward medical expenses for a patient needing heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. West Virginia Mountain State Gospel Singers Corp. will have an invitational sing today at a location approximately 2 miles east of the intersection of U.S. 19 and W.Va. 129 South of Summersville. A love offering for the sing will be used for maintenance of sound equipment, upkeep of the grounds and payment of utilities. There will be food service on the grounds during the sings. St. Luke United Methodist Church,: 702 Hansford St. in St. Albans, will be holding a revival at 7 p.m. nightly, today and Sunday at the church. Preaching will be given by David Lee and contemporary music from Beth Rollins. Pastor is Richie McNiel.
Toney's Branch Freewill Baptist Church will have revival services at 7 p.m. nightly beginning on Sept. 16 at the church, located 1/4 mile up Toney's Branch. Dennis Esstes will preach, and there will be special singing nightly. Pastor is Robert Perdue Jr.
Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, will participate in the Teays Valley Ministerial Association's "Roving Revival" scheduled for 7 p.m. each evening at differing churches Sept. 15-19. Mount Vernon Baptist Church will be the host church for the first service on Sept. 15 and music will be provided by Highlawn Baptist Church. The schedule continues with: Sept. 16 at Poca Baptist Church with music by Mount Vernon Baptist; Sept. 17 at Poca Baptist Church with music by Mount Vernon Baptist; Sept. 18 at Judson Baptist Church with music by Harmony Baptist Church; and the concluding service will be held Sept. 19 at Hurricane First Baptist Church. There will be a meeting of the association meeting at 4 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6 p.m. The final service will be 7 p.m. and will include the association's annual meeting. Speakers for the service include Mike Derry, Barry Sharpe, Fred Sparks, Craig Coster and missionaries.
The Rev. Calvin Ray Evans Jr. of Pedro, Ohio, will preach at revival services at 7 p.m. nightly, Sept. 16-20 at Charleston Mountain Mission, Seventh Avenue and Stockton Street. The Rev. Fairley McCormick is pastor and the Rev. Adam Null is associate pastor.
