Bridge, roadway to be named for slain State Police officers
CLAY, W.Va. -- State highways officials are naming a bridge and roadway near the Clay and Roane County line after two slain State Police troopers.
State Police Cpl. Marshall Bailey and Trooper Eric Workman, of the Clay County detachment, were fatally shot while performing a routine traffic stop off the Wallback/Clay exit of Interstate 79 on Aug. 28, 2012. A ceremony will be held off the exit ramp at 2 p.m. today< co Thurs> to name the adjacent bridge, exit ramp and road after the fallen officers. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, State Police Col. C.R. "Jay" Smithers and State Police Chaplain Cpl. Jim Mitchell will lead the ceremony.
