Train strikes, drags Putnam man walking on tracks
BUFFALO, W.Va. -- A train struck and dragged a man "for a considerable distance" in Putnam County on Friday, but he did not suffer life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Jonathan Higginbotham, 23, of Buffalo, was walking on the railroad tracks near the Buffalo Bridge around 4 p.m. when he was struck by a freight train, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.
Higginbotham had to be extricated from beneath the train. He was transported to the hospital by Putnam County EMS.
Sheriff's deputies are investigating.
