Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Chesapeake will celebrate its 93rd anniversary at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The theme is "Striving for Excellence Thru Diligence, Discipleship and Discipline" (Colossians 3:16, 17; 23-25). Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Michael Poke, from St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans, along with his choir and congregation. Dinner will be served immediately after the morning service.
The City of Refuge Church, 11719 MacCorkle Ave., Chesapeake, will celebrate its 13th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Various groups and soloists will be participating, including Men of Faith, Temple of Praise, Sonny Smith, Deotis Brown, The City Voices (reunited for this occasion), and City of Refuge Church music, sign and dance ministries.
