CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston city officials are getting ready to hire a new batch of police officers.
Sgt. Tony Hazelett of the Charleston Police Department said police are hosting recruiting open houses from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday to provide information to potential police department applicants. Open houses will be at the Charleston Police Department Training Division, 118 Dickinson St.
Veteran officers will be available to answer questions and talk about the hiring process. Job applications will also be available.
The deadline to turn in applications is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the City Clerk's office, Hazelett said.
Written exams will be Oct. 12 at the Charleston Civic Center. Physical testing will be conducted at the Civic Center on Oct. 26.
