Board of Health

The Kanawha-Charleston Board of Health will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the second-floor conference room at the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, 108 Lee St. E. For questions, call 304-348-6494.

Trail club hike

Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a Harvest Moon Hike at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Manila Creek. Meet at the Nitro Park and Ride. The hike is approximately 3 miles on a moderate trail with one long moderate climb and descent. Bring a flashlight and a towel to sit on.

Country western dance

The Brown Sisters will provide music at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Nitro Senior Center's monthly country western dance at the center, 21st Street and Second Avenue, Nitro. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a concession. Admission is by donation and all proceeds go to the Seniors Activity fund.

Musical concert

Ivy & Stone presents Cash and Carter at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nicholas County High School, Summersville. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will cost $3 more at the door on the night of the performance. Contact ivyandstone@frontier.com or call 304-872-4228.

Library card sign-up

Kanawha County Public Library is participating in the national Library Card Sign-Up Month. During September, the customary $1 fee for a replacement card is waived for those lost or damaged. Anyone of any age who lives, works or attends school in West Virginia is eligible for a KCPL card. Patron registration forms are available at all KCPL locations and on the library's website at www.kanawhalibrary.org. Submit a completed patron registration form and one form of current identification with an address at any KCPL location, including the mobile library.
