Former church worker sentenced for sexually assaulting child
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Cross Lanes man was given the maximum prison sentence Wednesday for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl while he was babysitting her.
Kanawha Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib sentenced Charles Brainard Hogan, 58, a former custodian of the Bible Center Church in Charleston, to 15 to 35 years in jail, according to prosecutors. The girl was a family member who was assaulted at a family residence. Hogan pleaded guilty June to first-degree sexual assault. Zakaib also gave him 40 yeears of supervised probation.
