Pratt mayor arrested, charged with pill possession
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- State police charged Pratt Mayor Gary Fields with simple possession on Thursday, Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants said.
Troopers found Fields with painkillers that he did not have a prescription for when they pulled him over on Paint Creek Road Aug. 29, Plants said.
Fields was driving a town police cruiser at the time. He is expected be arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court at a later date. Police were considering additional charges against Fields, but did not find enough evidence, Plants said.
Pratt Town Council members agreed to take back the police cruiser Fields had been driving during a meeting last week.
