Firefighters battle Chesapeake apartment blaze

By Staff reports

CHESAPEAKE, W.Va. -- Firefighters battled a blaze that raged for more than four hours inside an abandoned apartment building in Chesapeake Tuesday.

A fire broke out at the Cornerstone Apartments at 12604 MacCorkle Ave. SE in Chesapeake at about 3 p.m. Firefighters were still battling the blaze at about 7 p.m., but had it under control, according to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers.

No one had lived in the building, dispatchers said. The same apartment building had caught fire in April.
