The We Are All Farmers Permaculture Institute: will present a workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Rock Lake Community Life Center, 801 Lincoln Drive, South Charleston. Today's workshop will teach participants the key permaculture practices such as composting, vermiculture (earth worm cultivation), and building gardens using no tillers or plows. Sunday's workshop includes a presentation on growing food in water-based systems (aquaculture) and a hands-on workshop on creating mini-climates through herb spirals. Malden Public Service District Board of Commissioners: will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the district office located in the administrative building of the treatment facility.

Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will host a Tupperware Bingo at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyler Mountain Community Building, adjacent to the fire department. Doors open at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the fire department. A concession stand will be open. Players must be at least 18 years old.
Walk for kids
The East End Family Resource Center's After School Program will have a Walk for Kids at 10 a.m. Oct. 12 beginning at the Center on Ruffner Avenue. The parade route goes through several streets in the East End before returning to the Center. The entry fee is $15 per person if registered by Tuesday. After that date, the cost is $20. Teams of 10 have an entry fee of $10 per person. Sponsorships are available. Contact Renee Bayes at the center at 304-344-1656 for more information.
