CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Homecoming festivities at West Virginia State University kick off Thursday and last through the weekend, and will include a pig roast and a 5K run, as well as other activities.
Thursday, a National Alumni Association board meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, followed by a free Young Alumni Mixer at 6 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center.
On Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., alumni registration will be open at Embassy Suites.
A homecoming golf outing will be held at Little Creek Country Club beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. The golf event costs $50, and all proceeds go to the WVSU "W" Club, which supports athletic programs at the school.
Walking tours, a university archives open house, and an ROTC induction ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on campus Friday.
A Planned Giving Seminar will be held at 2 p.m. in the Davis Fine Arts building Friday, and will offer financial advice to WVSU's donors.
An alumni forum and chat with WVSU President Brian Hemphill will follow at 3 p.m.
Coronation will be held at 5 p.m. in the P.A. Williams Auditorium, followed by a class reunion and dinner at Embassy Suites at 7:30 p.m. to honor William Lonesome, WVSU's Alumnus of the Year.
Tickets for the reunion cost $50.
