Man shot in leg in Moose parking lot

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man was shot in the leg overnight on the parking lot of the Moose Lodge on Kanawha Boulevard.

Kanawha County sheriff's deputies and Charleston police were called to a fight on the Moose parking lot after 2 a.m., according to a news release from Kanawha Sheriff's Cpl. Brian Humphreys. The first deputy there saw vehicles leaving, then heard several shots fired, which prompted more people to leave either in vehicles or on foot, Humphreys said.

Jerome C. Gooch, 28, later showed up at CAMC General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Another man, Shawn Jackson, 28, of Cleveland, came to CAMC General with injuries from the fight, but he was not shot, Humphreys said. Both men are cooperating with the investigation, he said.

Police want anyone with information about the incident to call 304-357-0169 or submit an anonymous tip online at www.kanawhasheriff.us. ;
