GRAFTON, W.Va. -- A master bird bander will be on hand for a three-day weekend of activities at Tygart Lake State Park.
Joey Herron and park activities coordinator Stephanie Bailey will lead activities for both novices and experienced birders. Participants will learn to identify many of the birds in the area by sight and sound. Banding will focus on the migrating Swainson's thrush and magnolia warblers.
Herron is a Lewis County native with more than 41 years of birding experience. He's a licensed bird bander with the U.S. Geological Service bird banding lab.
The fall migration banding weekend begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
