Mental health screenings
Highland Hospital: 1418 MacCorkle Ave., will offer free mental health screenings 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at its location in honor of National Depression Screening Day. Although the screenings are not diagnostic, they provide valuable insight helping to identify if someone is exhibiting symptoms associated with depression or another mood disorder. Unity of Kanawha Valley will host a "Laughter Yoga" led by Janet Prince at 10 a.m. Saturday at 804 Myrtle Rd., at the corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Join in for a fun class of stretching exercises, breathing exercises, rhythmic clapping and laughter. The class is offered on a love-offering basis. Wave of Light service
Covenant OutReach will hold a Wave of Light Service from 6:30 to 8 pm. Oct. 15 at its location, 1863 Oakridge Dr., in recognition of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, October. A service will be held for mothers and families who have experienced a loss, and floating lanterns will be released in the memory of their babies. Childcare will be provided. Speakeasy Singles benefit
Quaker Steak and Lube on Corridor G will donate a percentage of sales to the Speakeasy Singles Oct. 14. Diners should mention the Speakeasy Singles group when ordering.
