Man sought after crashing stolen truck in Dunbar
DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Police in Dunbar are searching for a man they say crashed a stolen truck into a power pole, knocking out electricity to dozens of homes early Friday.
The accident happened at the intersection of 10th Street and Dunbar Avenue at 3:48 a.m., Dunbar Police Chief Earl Whittington said in a news release.
Witnesses saw the suspect, described as a white male wearing dark clothing, fleeing north along 10th Street, Whittington said.
The white Ford pickup truck collided with a power pole at the southwest corner of Dunbar Avenue, destroying it. It knocked out electricity in some parts of the city for several hours, he said. Police later learned that the truck had been reported stolen in West Virginia.
