Frontier, CWA extend W.Va. contract during talks
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Frontier Communications and the Communications Workers of America have extended their contract for workers in West Virginia while they continue negotiations.
It's the second contract extension since negotiations began about four months ago.
The old contract expired Aug. 2 and was extended until Oct. 12.
The State Journal reports that the latest extension will run until Jan. 18, 2014.
The contract covers more than 1,600 workers in West Virginia who formerly were Verizon employees. Frontier bought Verizon's landlines in the state in 2009.
