Kruzelock named tech park executive director, CEO

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Regional Technology Park and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission announced Rusty Kruzelock as its new park executive director and chief executive officer, effective Nov. 1.

The tech park in South Charleston was donated to the state in 2010 from Dow Chemical. It's the newest research, education and technology campus in West Virginia's higher education system.

Kruzelock will oversee the park's entire operation, including multi-tenant research, development and attracting new tenants.

The commission approved Kruzelock earlier this month after the park's board of directors signaled their approval. Kruzelock hails from Kyle, Texas.

He has extensive experience in research and development, most recently as president of Cenovance, a biotechnology company he co-founded.

Kruzelock has raised more than $100 million in research and development funding and built successful business programs in agriculture, science and medicine for academia, government entities, nonprofit companies and start-up businesses, according to a West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission news release.
