No indictment for Martinsburg police in fatal shooting
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A grand jury in West Virginia has declined to indict five police officers involved in the fatal shooting of a Virginia man.
Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Pamela Games-Neely said the grand jury made its decision Wednesday after it received the findings of an investigation of the shooting.
She would not identify the five officers.
Police have said Wayne Arnold Jones, 50, of Stephens City, Va., was shot March 13 after he stabbed on officer during a scuffle.
Jones' family filed a $200 million federal lawsuit against the city of Martinsburg and the five officers in June. The family's attorney, Sherman Lambert, said he's disappointed by the grand jury's decision.
Lambert said he plans to seek a federal investigation into the shooting.
