Marching Band Invitational today
The West Virginia Marching Band Invitational will take place starting at 10 a.m. and continuing throughout the day Saturday at the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field, beginning at 10 a.m. Twenty-three high school bands from across the state will participate. Tickets are $7 for adults and children 12 years and older; $5 for children younger than 12.
Quiet Day Retreat set
A Quiet Day Retreat is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Unity of Kanawha Valley, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads in South Hills. The retreat will focus on the art of "single-tasking" and will be facilitated by Megan Lyon. A light lunch will be provided. Three retreat is free, but love offerings are accepted. The Kanawha Valley Village People (KVVP) invite fellow seniors to join them in helping members remain independently living in their own homes. Ballroom/Latin dance series
WV Dance will begin a new series of ballroom and Latin dance lessons for beginning and intermediate dance students on Tuesday at the University of Charleston's Geary Student Union ballroom. Beginner 1 lessons (no experience required) are from 7 to 7:45 p.m., and Beginner 2 lessons (some experience recommended) are from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. Lessons are $10 per person (or $8 if bought as a package of lessons), and free for UC students, staff and faculty.
