Ready, set, snow
Charleston Public Works employees install a plow on a truck at the city garage Wednesday afternoon during a dry run of the city's winter road treatment procedure. Gary Taylor, the city's director of public works, said the drill allows the department to work out any maintenance issues the equipment might have before the start of the season. "This is just something we normally try to do just to get a little bit ahead of the game," Taylor said.

The department held a dry run Wednesday afternoon for the city's winter road treatment procedure. Gary Taylor, director of public works, said he hopes the season is mild. "We've been able to save some salt," Taylor said of the city's mild winters in the past. "We shouldn't have any issues going into this year."
