CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Airports in Kanawha, Randolph and Wayne counties are getting a total of $8.9 million in federal funding for improvements.
Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall announced the Federal Aviation Administration grants Wednesday.
The bulk of the money, $7.6 million, will go to Yeager Airport in Charleston for runway improvements.
Yeager also is getting $200,000 and Huntington's airport is receiving $250,000 to help implement sustainability plans.
The airport in Elkins is getting just over $1 million to rehabilitate taxiways and taxi lanes.
