Berkeley man charged with sex abuse of girl, 11
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- A Berkeley County man was arrested Thursday after a woman allegedly found a diary describing a sexual assault of her 11-year-old daughter.
According to a criminal complaint on file in Berkeley County Magistrate Court, the diary described how Donald Lee Bowers, 49, of Hedgesville, performed oral sex on the girl and forced her to perform oral sex on him during the summer of 2012. The mother went to State Police from the Martinsburg detachment after finding the diary while cleaning her daughter's room.
According to the criminal complaint, a member of the Child Advocacy Center interviewed the girl, who provided details of the incident.
Bowers was charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Bowers was in the Eastern Regional Jail on Friday with bail set at $300,000.
