David Morton leads the St. Ambrose Choir during rehearsal Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Evensong, a traditional and revered Anglican service of sung evening prayer, will be offered Sunday at the church, which sits at the corner of Quarrier Street and Leon Sullivan Way in Charleston. The service is open to the public and begins at 5 p.m.

Morton, the church's director of music and choirmaster, has chosen several works for the All Saints Day observance. The Feast of All Saints, also known as All Hallows, falls on Nov. 1 but is observed and solemnly celebrated on the Sunday following. It is a time when an Anglican or Episcopal congregation remembers and honors those parishioners who have died in the past year, according to a news release from St. Johns Episcopal. This year's Evensong for All Saints will be a special tribute to Judy Lewis, who died Sept. 4 and, until just a few weeks before her death, had continued to sing with the St. Ambrose Choir.
