Wells Home Furnishings has teamed up with Mountain Mission this year to collect gently used coats, scarves, gloves and hats for those in need this winter season. Items can be dropped off at the Wells' Showroom located on Corridor G at Angel Terrace Thursday through Nov. 30. Those unable to drop off items at Wells can call 304-343-3600 and have them picked up.
Allied Health Open House
Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College will have an Allied Health Open House from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. People can learn more about a profession in Nursing, Community and Behavioral Health, Nuclear Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, Diagnostic Sonography, Medical Lab Technology, Gerontology, Patient Care Technology and Health Sciences in its new and renovated labs. Refreshments will be served.
Veterans Appreciation Ceremony
Concord University's Veterans Appreciation Ceremony will take place at 11:50 a.m. today Thursday on the Athens campus, outside Marsh Hall, and will continue in the Wilkes Family Chapel in University Point.
Retired federal employees
National Active and Retired Federal Employees, Charleston Chapter 0166, will meet at 10 a.m. Friday at the South Charleston Public Library, 312 Fourth Ave. Guest speakers will be V. Jane Lambert, representative of GEHA and Lisa Handschumacher, representative of BCBS. They will speak on changes in insurance coverage and the open season.
