Wood County woman arrested in alleged murder-for-hire plot
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A Wood County woman tried to hire a man to kill her husband so she could collect his insurance money, police said Wednesday.
Amy Yvonne Mayhugh, 40, of Vienna, was charged with solicitation to commit murder, according to a news release issued by the Parkersburg Police Department.
Mayhugh allegedly gave a confidential informant a Rolex watch as partial payment for the planned slaying. Detectives recorded conversations between Mayhugh and the informant discussing the plan, according to the release.
Mayhugh was being held in Wood County Holding Center pending arraignment in Wood County Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
