Witnesses say woman reportedly drove erratically before fatal crash
TORNADO, W.Va. -- Police received a call about an erratic driver moments before a fatal car crash along Coal River Road near Tornado on Wednesday.
Tammy Holsopple, 47, of Tornado, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release issued by Kanawha County Cpl. Brian Humphreys. The accident happened at about 4:25 p.m.
Emergency 911 dispatchers issued a "be on the lookout" call for a white car driving erratically along Coal River Road, according to the release. Witnesses later reported seeing Holsopple breaking until almost stopped several times before the crash.
Deputy J. Yost of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office is investigating. The Chief Medical Examiner will perform a toxicology test.
