Three arrested after St. Albans car chase
ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Police arrested three people after a car chase through St. Albans on Friday.
Keary Lee Drake, 45, of St. Albans, and Lucas Randall Lynch, 30, of Charleston, were charged with felony fleeing. Sarah Kay Burgess, 20, of Charleston, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
St. Albans police officers began following Drake's car near the intersection of Kanawha Terrace and Green Valley Drive in St. Albans just before 2 p.m., Capt. James Agee said. Officers checked the car's license plates and found it had a suspended registration, Agee said.
Officers tried to pull Drake over, but he did not stop and led officers on a chase toward Alum Creek, Agee said. At one point Drake slowed down to about 30 mph and Lynch jumped out, injuring his foot, Agee said.
Drake eventually pulled over and surrendered to police along Childress Road in Alum Creek, near Corridor G, he said.
Agee said police found two stolen guns inside the car. Drake and Lynch are convicted felons and are prohibited from possessing firearms, and they also will be charged with illegally possessing guns, he said.
Burgess was to be charged in St. Albans Municipal Court after police found drug paraphernalia in her possession. Drake was awaiting arraignment in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Lynch was taken to CAMC General Hospital and will be arrested after he is released, Agee said.
