SBA to hold veterans business webinar

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The U.S. Small Business Administration will hold a webinar, a computer online workshop, on Thursday to help veterans learn how to register new businesses.

Federal agencies are strongly encouraged to do business with business owners who are veterans, according to a news release from the SBA. Thursday's webinar will offer an overview on how to get veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned business certifications.

"There is a government-wide goal to award at least 3 percent of prime and subcontracting dollars to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses each year," said Judy McCauley, the SBA district director in Clarksburg. "It is very important to understand the program and ensure you register correctly in order to compete." Thursday's webinar, which will be held between 2 and 2:45 p.m., will be co-hosted by the Regional Contracting Assistance Center. Veterans can register to participate in the program at www.charleston.score.org.
