Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association board of directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at its location, 1248 Greenbrier St.
Health plan meeting
David B. Wamsley, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be a guest speaker at 7 p.m. Thursday at the meeting of the West Virginian Physicians for National Health Plan. The meeting will take place at Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. E. Wamsley will speak on a number of issues with the primary focus on free health care.
'Fill the boot' for MD
Firefighters will be out on the street of St. Albans on Friday asking motorists to help "fill the boot" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. All proceeds help Local 1155 firefighters provide medical treatment and support services to individuals and their families living with neuromuscular diseases in the greater St. Albans area. Open Stage 4 Kids!
The next Open Stage 4 Kids! event for youth performers ages 5-15 will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Unity of Kanawha Valley, 804 Myrtle Road. Sky Kershner and Ron Sowell will host. Bring whatever talent you would like to share: playing an instrument, singing, dancing, telling a joke, showing a piece of art, magic or giving a monologue. Silly songs are welcome. Free Thanksgiving meal
Kanawha Players Theater will thank veterans by providing a free meal from 5 to 9 p.m. (or until the food runs out) Nov. 27, the day before Thanksgiving, at 309 Beauregard St. There will be turkey and all the fixings, as well as dessert. Christmas cards will also be on hand for those who would like to fill out a few to send to troops who are far away from home this holiday season. This event is made possible through volunteers at Kanawha Players Theater, donations from LongHorn Steakhouse and the culinary skills of Bad Fairy Productions. SC Christmas parade
Applications are being accepted for participation in the South Charleston Christmas Parade, which will take place at noon Dec. 14. Call the South Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau at 304-746-5552.
