Huntington bus system hosts canned food drive

By Staff reports

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Tri-State Transit Authority will conduct its annual Food-For-Fares drive Saturday. One canned food item will be accepted as fare all day long in place of cash, passes and value cards on TTA buses and Dial-A-Ride vans.

Food-For-Fares is an annual event sponsored by TTA on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The food TTA collects is donated to the Huntington City Mission to help meet the needs of the poor during the holiday season.

Individuals and groups who do not regularly ride TTA transit are invited to bring canned food donations to the TTA Center, Fourth Avenue and 13th Street, downtown Huntington. Contributors can park in the bus stop in front of the station and place their donations in a receptacle just inside the front door.
