Woman sold brass stolen off war memorial, police say
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston woman sold five brass light fixtures taken from the Veterans Memorial at the Capitol Complex, police said Friday.
Amanda Suzanne Young, 32, was charged with receiving or transferring stolen goods, a felony. Young sold the light fixtures to Capitol Recycling for $2,000 on Monday, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Capitol Police Officer M.S. Swecker investigated after the lights fixtures were reported stolen. Capitol Police Director Randy Mayhew said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests would likely follow.
