CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Boone County man was shot by his mother-in-law early Sunday morning after forcibly entering her home, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said.
Nathan Amick, 39, had been in an argument with his wife, at the home of her mother, Debbie Thompson, Saturday, police said. Police responded and asked Amick to leave and to not return.
Amick returned to the home around 6 a.m. and was shot in the stomach by Thompson after entering the residence, according to the sheriff's office. Law enforcement was already en route to the scene when Amick was shot.
Amick was transported by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital for surgery. His condition remains unknown, according to the sheriff's office.No charges have been made against Thompson, but Amick may face felony burglary charges once he is released from the hospital.
