Anniversaries

The Upper Kanawha Valley Ministers and Deacons Fellowship will celebrate its 43rd Anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Eagle Central Missionary Baptist Church, Eagle. Speaker will be the Rev. Keith Walker, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Garten. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Holiday programs

Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas concert at 4 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the church, located at 1698 Quarrier St. The celebration will feature soprano Alice Hypes, baritone Jason Hypes, organist Wayne Halstead and the Jubilate Children's Choir from Christ Church United Methodist.

The Sanctuary Choir of Mount Vernon Baptist Church will present the cantata, "Night of Alleluias!" at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15. The music will be under the direction of Rodney LeGrand. Soloists will be Stephanie Rogers, soprano; Sharon McClung and Denise Neely, altos; Elisha Conn, tenor; and Josh Callaway, bass. The Rev. Ron McClung is senior pastor. The church is located at 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, near the Interstate 64, Exit 39, Winfield.

The Christmas cantata, "Down from His Glory," will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, South Charleston. The cantata is arranged by Mike Speck. A reception will immediately follow. Grace Church Choir will perform at 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 8. Director of music is Terri Taylor. The church is located at Second Avenue and B Street in South Charleston.

Homeland Southern Gospel Choir will present "The Name Jesus" at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at Scary Creek Church of God, 340 Scary Road, Scott Depot. There is no charge.

Miscellaneous

Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 7 at Fairview United Methodist Church, Cross Lanes. Bring cameras if you wish. The cost is donation only. Proceeds will benefit Cross Lanes Community Services. The church is located off Big Tyler Road onto Rocky Fork Road, first right up the hill.

"The Cross," a 30-minute video, which is part of Billy Graham's message "MY HOPE AMERICA," will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday at Mary Virginia Gospel Tabernacle, 830 Georges Creek Drive, Malden. Light refreshments will be served after the video.

Miracle Island Unlimited will have its 10th CHRIST-mas (clothing-food-toys) Giveaway at 1 p.m. today at Paradise Island of Christian, located on W.Va. 80, between Man and Gilbert in Logan County. Children must be present to receive. Paradise Island of Christian will also present the last two nights of the year's Passion Trail, "The Footsteps of Jesus," Friday and Dec. 7. Singing and food begin at 6:30 p.m., and the Passion Trail starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Music

Charleston Mountain Mission Church will have a Christmas Basket Benefit Sing at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the church. Squire Parsons and The Charleston Mountain Mission Church Choir will sing. There is no admission charge. Non-perishable food will be collected at the door and a love offering will be collected to support hurting residents throughout the Kanawha Valley through the programs of Mountain Mission. David and Sheila Bowen will sing at 7 p.m. Monday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Wills Creek, Elkview.

Special services

Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church will have a praise and worship service at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 featuring the Rev. James Gilkerson. Pastor Jason C. Black will preach at 6 p.m. Sunday and the Chadwick's Creek Boys, bluegrass gospel group will perform. The prayer meeting and youth group meetings start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The church is located at 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 442 McDonald St., South Charleston, will feature the Rev. Philemon Dillard as guest speaker at the 11 a.m. Sunday morning worship service.

James Gilkeson preaching will be held at 11 a.m. The evening service Sunday begins at 6 p.m. with the Chadwick's Creek Boys singing and Pastor Jason C. Black preaching. The prayer meeting and youth group meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Youth Group will sing Christmas carols at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
