FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- Members of the Fayette County Memorial Lodge No. 118 of the Fraternal Order of Police are accepting applications for their 2013 annual Shop-With-A-Cop Program.
Children ages 3 to 12 are eligible for the program and will not be receiving assistance from any other aid program, according to FOP lodge President Chris Young. Families must meet minimum income requirements.
Young said the program is completely organized and run locally and depends on mailed solicitations for donations. Families selected to participate in the program get a shopping spree at the Fayetteville Walmart.
Those who want to submit the name of a needy family for the program can call 304-731-8438, Young said. Applications will be taken over the phone.
Young said all money collected goes to buy gifts for needy families, and the amount of donations received determines how many families can be helped. Only families who live in Fayette County are eligible.
