CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- UniCare Health Plan of West Virginia, Wal-Mart-Cross Lanes and West Virginia Radio Corporation will team up to present the sixth annual Circle of Hope to benefit Charleston-based Mountain Mission on Friday and Saturday.
The event will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at West Virginia Radio Corporation, 1111 Virginia St. E. There will be sponsors' check presentations to Mountain Mission at 11 a.m. The food drive event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cross Lanes Walmart.
More than $50,000 in cash and several trailers filled with food are expected to be collected at this year's Circle of Hope to help more than a thousand area families put food on their tables this Christmas season.
Food items needed include boxed turkey dressing, sweet potatoes, fruit cocktail, 10-pound bags of potatoes, macaroni and cheese, applesauce, 5-pound bags of sugar and brownie mix. Mountain Mission will also accept cash donations and staff will be available to provide receipts. Financial contributions can also be made online at www.mountainmission.com.
